Health Guarantee
All kittens purchased from us come with a 1-year health guarantee provided by the breeder.
Within 10 days of purchasing your kitten, it is required that you take them to a licensed veterinarian for an examination. If, within that 10-day period, the veterinarian determines that your kitten is sick or has passed away due to an illness or injury that was likely contracted before the sale, you have several options.
You can return the kitten for a full refund, exchange the kitten for another of equal value, or keep the kitten and be reimbursed for reasonable veterinary fees (up to the purchase price). However, if the seller disclosed the health issue in writing and provided a health certificate from a veterinarian, these options do not apply. If, within 30 days of purchase, a licensed veterinarian determines that your kitten has a congenital or hereditary defect that negatively affects its health, or if the kitten dies from such a defect, you have the same options as mentioned above.
It is important to notify the seller within two days of the veterinarian’s certification, providing the veterinarian’s name, address, and phone number. Failure to do so within two business days will result in the forfeiture of your rights. Each state has different laws regarding the sale of kittens, so it is important to familiarize yourself with the laws of the state in which you purchase your kitten.
While each state in the U.S. has different guidelines regarding health guarantees for sold kittens, any breeder advertising through happy dobbabies is expected to provide a minimum 30-day health guarantee, even in states without mandatory guarantees. If a state law offers a longer guarantee period, that law takes precedence.
Some breeders may offer extended guarantees on their kittens, but it is illegal for a breeder to offer a health guarantee that does not meet or exceed state law requirements. Extended genetic health guarantees, if offered, specifically cover diseases or illnesses proven to have a genetic origin through proper veterinary examination and testing.
These guarantees do not cover regular veterinary costs for general kitten care. Documentation must be provided to the breeder before any compensation is given. This guarantee also does not cover costs incurred due to owner negligence or accidental injury.
